Dubai Police encourage women to join force
Dubai Police have supported Emirati women working in police forces through laws and initiatives that encourage women to join the military and civil service, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police Chief, said.
Speaking on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Lt Gen Dahi said these initiatives ensure that men and women enjoy equal rights, duties and opportunities.
The initiatives take into consideration a woman’s duties towards her family but don’t compromise her work, subject her to psychological pressures, or force her to bargain for her rights as a woman and working mother.
To further empower women, a female community service police council has been set up, which is the first all-woman council to care for women’s issues.
The changes witnessed by the UAE society in the past years made it a necessity to found this council, which helps activate communication and extend bridges between police and the community.
Lt Gen Dahi highlighted women’s role in forming preventative and curative programmes.
