Dubai is a coastal country which is situated in the coasts of the Persian Gulf coast. This is surrounded by Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Sultanate of Oman, and the Persian Gulf which covers the western side of the city. This city is the most populated of all the emirates. These were the one among the countries who implemented the reverse osmosis technique to produce drinking water from sea water.  Major part of the Dubai is sandy deserts where as the other southern emirates have a gravel sort of desert regions. As this is a coastal country the humidity in this city is always more than 50 % which are the major driving force for the drastic decrease in the temperatures at the night time.

As the soil is usually sandy there are many difficulties in the construction of the sky scrapers. But with the high edge technology and hi tech engineering analysis they were able to seek solution to most of the problems. Hence construction of these will cost high. One such solution is the skin friction that is produced by the building which when pass through a sandy soil.

This is nothing but the phenomenon in which a new kind of friction called as the skin friction which resists the motion of a structure further into the sand. This is because the area of contact between the sand and the structure increases as the structure goes into the sand hence if the area is more then the friction will always be high. There by they resist the further movement of the structure into the sand.

In the year 2011 one of the biggest campaigns in modern history is to take place. This objective of the campaign is to decide the seven natural wonders of the world and is to be organised by the New Open World Corporation. This campaign is known as the New7Wonders and Dubai is actually one of the favorites to host the main event of the campaign where the natural 7 wonders of the world are actually to be announced.

The New7Wonders will be decided through voting from all around the world. This is the second of campaign of its kind after the success of the New Seven Wonders of the World, which was a campaign to reinstate the concept of the seven wonders, which was also organised by the New Open World Corporation.  The first campaign got over 100 million votes from all over the world. The main event of the project is to take place in the year 2011. Voting has already begun in the beginning of 2009 and is to commence in July.

There is a strong sense of support for the U.A.E’s cities, both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, on the official website of the event. Dubai is being strongly considered as a potential city to host the event, according to one of the event’s representatives. This however is not a surprise as Dubai is growing rapidly, in terms of development and popularity. There are currently around 18 locations from all around the world in the bidding process to become the global hosts. This is a rare and unique opportunity to make a name in the pages of history for which ever city tat actually gets the rights to become the official hosts. If the event is hosted in Dubai, it will once again get the opportunity to reinstate its position as one of the hottest cities in the world
